Volkswagen Group España Distribución to take over the distribution of Ducati motorcycles in Spain and Portugal
Volkswagen Group España Distribución announced today its new project, taking over the commercialization of Ducati motorcycles in Spain and Portugal (excluding the Canary Islands) starting from January 1, 2024. The presentation of the project took place in Madrid, attended by Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, Francesco Milicia, Vice President of Sales and After-sales of Ducati, Francisco Pérez Botello, President of Volkswagen Group España Distribución, and Carlos T. López Panisello, General Manager of Ducati for Spain and Portugal.
The event, attended by around a hundred guests including journalists, executives from Volkswagen Group companies in Spain, and representatives from the automobile manufacturers association (Anfac) and the two-wheel sector (Anesdor), featured various activations, such as a recreation of the legendary Correntaio curve at the Mugello Circuit.
Furthermore, there was an exhibition of different models from the Ducati range, including the Multistrada V4 Rally, the Scrambler Ducati Icon, and the Streetfighter V4 S. Attendees also had the opportunity to enjoy a selection of Ducati Apparel and accessories, as well as a replica of the Desmosedici GP23 ridden by the current Moto GP world champion, Francesco Bagnaia.
During the press conference held at the event, Francisco Pérez Botello, President of Volkswagen Group España Distribución, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the company by the Volkswagen Group and Ducati. «This presents an extraordinary opportunity for us to continue growing as a company and to bring Ducati into a new era in the Iberian market,» he added.
Carlos T. López Panisello, General Manager of Ducati for Spain and Portugal, outlined the brand’s strategic priorities, which focus on enhancing its premium character and placing the customer at the center. He also announced that the commercial objective is to position the Spanish and Portuguese markets as the second most important for Ducati in Europe in terms of market share.
Closing the press conference, Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, highlighted the remarkable moment the brand is experiencing both economically and in the world of sports. He stated, «Working with Volkswagen Group España Distribución will allow us to create an even closer relationship with our enthusiasts in Spain and Portugal, thanks to the company’s strong presence in the market, the talent of its team, and the innovation and digitalization of its services.»
